The sample of Tom Tom Club‘s “Genius Of Love” in Mariah Carey‘s “Fantasy” is one of the greatest flips in pop history. I will not debate this claim. And now Tinashe has channeled her inner elusive chanteuse with a cover of the funky ’80s classic that serves as the foundation to that Mariah smash.
The rework is helmed by DJ Cassidy for Target’s new spring campaign. It comes just as Tinashe preps her Joyride tour — and it serves as yet another placeholder before she announces the accompanying album’s release date.
