The 1975 Goad Their Critics In “The Sound” Video

The 1975‘s ambitious pastel-pop album with the horrible title is out and to go along with the release they’ve premiered the video for soulful, house-inflected single “The Sound.”

More:: I was so wrong about The 1975

It gets an appropriately bright visual, but what starts off as a straightforward clip soon turns self-aware. Negative quotes about the band, at least some of which I can confirm appeared in actual write-ups, are slapped onto pink title cards — although one is “pompous arena synth-pop” and I wanna know in what world that is considered a bad thing. The clever video was directed by Tim Mattia.

I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it dropped today (February 26) and it will cause you to do a complete reassessment of the band. Watch their latest video below.
