Nicole Scherzinger Might Be Releasing A Mixtape Of Unreleased Material, Including Power Ballad “Pretty”
Rumors of Nicole Scherzinger is releasing a mixtape of previously unreleased material is certainly one of the stranger things doing the rounds on social media — and it might just be true! It looks like the 37-year-old’s manager let the proverbial cat out of the bag on Snapchat. He even gave some indication of the tracklist, sharing snippets of seemingly long, lost power ballad “Pretty” and Dallas Austin-produced jam “One More Shot.”
This seems too good to be true. Even the casual Scherzi-fan is aware of the PCD diva’s terrible luck when it comes to getting music released. Scrapped debut LP Her Name Is Nicole enjoys a strong cult following (the leaked material is great), while Nicole admitted to canning five (!!) albums before releasing Big Fat Lie. Funnily enough, I suggested releasing some of those lost gems when I interviewed her in October, 2014.
“I would love [fans] to [hear them] because I think my fans would appreciate them and would be able to connect with them,” she enthused. “There’s a couple of real gems in there. But I’m grateful for that process, because it’s what’s gotten me here. Kenny [Babyface] did that [“Pretty”]. He’s amazing, he wrote that song. I’m not gonna lie, it’s disheartening to me too because we put so much work into it.”
Releasing a mixtape would also be an excellent way of drumming up buzz for the triple threat’s (never forget Men In Black 3) third LP, which is due later this year. “I’ve got a new deal coming out,” Nicole told the Huffington Post in late 2015. “It was rumored all this year that I was dropped and I actually wasn’t dropped….
