Kanye's "New" "Album"
It's named after a vintage video game console, because he's on some super nerd vibes.

Justin Bieber was almost featured in Kanye West‘s The Life of Pablo opener “Ultralight Beam,” according to producer, songwriter and wingman Fonzworth Bentley.

Fonzworth tells The FADER that he called Poo Bear, the most prominent songwriter in Justin’s albums Journals and Purpose, to see whether the pop superstar could join them at the studio in Los Angeles. “Justin hops on the phone and is like, ‘Tell Yeezy whatever he needs I got it,'” Fonzworth says. “So Justin comes through and we vibed on that. And then Ye went right in. Ye was like, “Let’s all catch a freestyle.”

From there, however, “Ultralight Beam” wouldn’t feel finalized until after R&B singer Kelly Price, gospel veteran Kirk Franklin and featured artist Chance the Rapper laid down their verses. Which is to say: Justin helped with the brainstorming process.

“A Kanye album is like a working document,” Fonzworth says. “You don’t hear the final version of it until it is available for purchase.” Read the entire interview at The FADER.
