A full decade after the record-breaking first High School Musical movie premiered, the Disney Channel has announced that a fourth installment of the franchise is a go. We know what you’re thinking: Surely Zac Efron is content making mediocre box office semi-hits like Dirty Grandpa and That Awkward Moment to bother returning to this schmaltz, right?

There’s actually no official word on whether original stars like Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman and Lucas Grabeel will reprise their respective roles. In fact, while HSM4 is said to be continuing the story involving everyone’s favorite Utah high school, the upcoming film will introduce new East High Wildcats and their rivals, the West High Knights.

High School Musical is part of Disney Channel’s DNA. It embodies all that we stand for,”  said Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, in a press release. “As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we’re excited to announce ‘the start of something new’ — as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the High School Musical franchise.”

Jeffrey Hornaday, who helmed Disney Channel’s 2013 hit Teen Beach Movie, is attached to direct and choreograph HSM4.
