Garbage Announce ‘Strange Little Birds’ Album, Due Out In June

As promised, Garbage, one of the defining bands of the 1990s alt-pop scene, have a new album on the way this spring. Shirley Manson & Co. first teased their sixth LP in early February, and now there are some solid details on the whole shebang.

Above, you’ll see the cover art for what is Strange Little Birds, the band’s self-produced new album being released on June 10 via their own label, STUNVOLUME (a la previous release, 2012’s Not Your Kind of People). Eleven tracks make up Strange Little Birds, which is noted to have echoes of Garbage’s 1995 debut LP. (That’s not surprising, given that the band trekked around last year performing Garbage in its entirety for album’s 20th anniversary.)

“To me, this record, funnily enough, has the most to do with the first record than any of the previous records,” Manson says in a statement. “It’s getting back to that beginner’s headspace. In part, that’s a result of not having anyone to answer to.”

Strange Little Birds tracklist

1. Sometimes 2. Empty 3. Blackout 4. If I Lost You 5. Night Drive Loneliness 6. Even Though Our Love Is Doomed 7. Magnetized 8. We Never Tell 9. So We Can Stay Alive 10. Teaching Little Fingers To Play 11. Amends
