Meghan Trainor is really switching things up this era. The 22-year-old dyed her hair a rich, reddish brown and completely overhauled her sound. She leaves doo-wop behind on new single “NO,” opting for slinky, turn-of-the-millennium R&B/pop. Think Christina Aguilera meets Writing’s On The Wall-era Destiny Child. It was a bold move, but it’s already paying dividends. The Ricky Reed-produced bop hasn’t left the top five on iTunes since arriving on March 4.
The Grammy winner’s transformation is set to continue with the video. Meghan shared a still from the clip today and it looks like a dramatic affair. She’s depicted kneeling in a glamorous gown with hands raised and hair aflutter. The sexy, edgy tone is a stark contract to the floor-mopping shenanigans of “Dear Future Husband.” While there’s no release date for the visual yet, the diva promises that it’s “coming soon.”
