Mike Posner Brings “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” To BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge
While the Mike Posner revival is in full swing stateside, things are going even better for the 28-year-old abroad. For example, comeback single “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” topped the UK singles chart this week — becoming his first number one in that territory. He celebrated the milestone by delivering a mellow, stripped-back version of his very own sad song on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. The heartfelt rendition expertly showcases his new musical direction.
While the tone of “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” is undeniably somber, Mike isn’t necessarily in a bad place. “If I write a sad song it doesn’t mean I am a sad person,” he told Idolator earlier this month. “It means I have sad feelings and I was expressing those that day — that part of that day. ‘Ibiza’ is a shade of me.” It will be interesting to see which other colors he shows up on long-overdue sophomore LP At Night, Alone (due May 6). Watch up top.
