Pitbull does arena rock (!) as he teams with Robin Thicke, Joe Perry and Travis Barker.

Keith Urban has a dream collaboration in store for his upcoming album Ripcord, though country fans may be shocked to see who is featured. “Sun Don’t Let Me Down” contains a verse by Pitbull and Nile Rodgers, the bassist of disco legends Chic, on guitar.

“A lot of last year was spent experimenting with people who could bring different things to the album,” Keith says to Rolling Stone Country.

As a country superstar and American Idol judge, Keith had already performed with both artists before they went to the studio. He, Pitbull and Nick Jonas co-headlined the first-ever PlentiTogether Live last June. Later that summer he and Nile shared a set during the latter’s FOLD Festival, after having wanted to work with him for years.

“With Nile, it was the guitar playing that drew me in,” Keith says to RS Country. “I had a real simple desire to play with him, to see what kind of fusion we could create together.” Meanwhile, he says that Pitbull’s verse has a “mischievous, sexy swagger to it, in a very different way.”

Ripcord is out May 6. For some idea of what “Sun Don’t Let Me Down” may sound like, revisit Keith and Nile playing “Somebody Like You” at FOLD below.
