Coachella 2016: G-Eazy Interview
We caught up with G-Eazy at Coachella and talked about his breakthrough year.

2016 is shaping up to be a breakthrough year for G-Eazy. The California rapper landed a massive crossover pop hit with Bebe Rexha-assisted loner anthem “Me, Myself & I” — reaching number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and selling platinum. (It’s still the most-played song on pop radio). He also made his Coachella debut, performing to a jam-packed Sahara tent on Day 1 of the festival. One of the highlights of that set was his new single “Drifting,” featuring Tory Lanez and Chris Brown.

The video arrived this afternoon and it takes a literal approach to the song’s narrative of fame and distance coming between a relationship. G-Eazy spends much of the clip staring forlornly at the phone, while the featured artists do their thing in a hotel lobby. The visual is relatively low key, but it succeeds in capturing the paranoia and loneliness that goes along with being on the road for extended periods of time. Watch the video up top.
