For the first time in its 33-year history, MTV will host its Music Video Awards at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

“We have no doubt that MTV VMAs — so celebrated for its exciting and unexpected mix of music and entertainment — will add an unforgettable chapter to [the Garden’s] unparalleled legacy,” said David O’Connor, MSG CEO, in a press release.

New York is the original home of this awards show, and has hosted it 15 times since. The first time ever was in 1984 at Radio City Music Hall. But while that holds about 6,000 people, MSG’s capacity is three times as large.

The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards doesn’t air until Sunday, August 28, so exactly how the show plans to regale viewers has yet to be announced.
