On April 22, Nick Jonas debuted an unreleased song in Nashville. “Chainsaw” is about his breakup with Olivia Culpo. According to Nick, it is one of the most vulnerable songs off his new album Last Year Was Complicated. But at OZ Arts Nashville, he gave a rousing performance while seated at the piano.

CMT filmed this for CMT Crossroads, where a pop artist and a country artist perform side by side. (See: Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves singing “Firework” in 2014.) So more than anything, Nick seemed pleased to be sharing the stage with Thomas Rhett. Thomas is the son of country singer Rhett Atkins and has scored five #1 country hits on his own.

Nick and Thomas’ CMT Crossroads special premieres this summer. Watch the live debut of “Chainsaw” below.
