Our recurring dispatch from pop’s fringes wouldn't exist without Prince.

Prince‘s body has been cremated, according to his publicist Yvette Noel-Schure.

“[His] final storage will remain private,” Yvette said in a statement, hours after a private memorial service attended by close family, friends and musicians.

Prince’s family had received his body only the day before, after the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Ramsey, Minn., performed an autopsy. The office says that full results “could likely take weeks.”

Meanwhile, outside his Minneapolis studio compound Paisley Park, the music icon’s sister Tyka Nelson greeted a crowd standing outside and gave a fan a hug. “Thank you for loving him, y’all,” she said, “and he loved each and every one of you.”

Below, watch Prince‘s musician friends, including singers Sheila E. and Judith Hill, thank fans and present them with gifts outside Paisley Park.
