Just when you thought a cover of “West End Girls” by “cholo goth” group Prayers might be a thing nobody was asking for, the Pet Shop Boys themselves went ahead and enlisted that video’s director, Gavin Filipiak, for their second Super single, “Twenty-something.” This takes the lyrical setting of the Latin-tinged song out of London by visually transporting us to the Sherman Heights area of San Diego, where the twenty-something in question is a down-on-his luck gang member/father (with another baby on the way) whose attempts at securing a legitimate job to support his family don’t end up quite as planned.

“Twenty-something” is set for an official CD and digital single release on June 17. One would assume, this being Pet Shop Boys, that it will come with at least a B-side or two, and a few remixes.
