Someone finally asked Alicia Keys the question the world (well, The Hive) has pondering for years! What the hell happened to the video for Beyonce duet “Put It In A Love Song”? The perky bop was originally supposed to be the fourth single from the R&B superstar’s 2009 LP The Element Of Freedom, but was pulled in favor of “Un-Thinkable (I’m Ready).” However, a glamorous, big-budget video had already been filmed in Brazil and fans were desperate to see it after stills surfaced online.

So what happened? “We had a ball in the studio, we had a ball doing the video, which was crazy in Brazil, it was outrageous,” the “In Common” hitmaker explained. “You saw pictures. But you know it just didn’t quite… the video didn’t quite capture the energy that I think that we really intended it to and we just felt like it was better to just hold it, so we did that.” However there’s hope. “Maybe one day it will be like some old secret..,” Alicia says before the interviewer interjects, suggesting a Tidal release. “I’ll put it on Tidal,” she laughs. This needs to happen.
