“I’m gonna break the f—in’ china ’cause it’s just one more reminder you’re gone,” Nick Jonas sings in his new song “Chainsaw,” released today (May 13). And in its accompanying video, he actually keeps to his promise, smashing a few china plates to the ground.

With all of his usual slick choreography set to funk-lite pop, we’re not used to seeing the ex-Jonas Brother lose his cool. But for this visual, we literally see a relationship — and the house it built — go up in flames. Moreover, while the relationship between Nick and model Sara Sampaio isn’t nearly as violent as Dominic Monaghan and Megan Fox‘s from Eminem‘s “Love the Way You Lie” video, it does get close at times.

Nick has admitted that his forthcoming album, Last Year Was Complicatedis about his breakup with Olivia Culpo. And if the “Chainsaw” video is any indication, then its title isn’t a hyperbole. “It became very clear what it was going to be about, after the breakup,” he recently said to Out. “I just dove in headfirst and wrote about all of it. I think it was the most meaningful relationship I’ve ever been in.”

Last Year Was Complicated is out June 10. Watch the “Chainsaw” video over at Vogue.
