The Weeknd and Belly were scheduled to perform their hit collab “Might Not” on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night (May 25), but pulled out hours before the show taping in protest of Donald Trump‘s appearance as a guest on the same episode. It was to be the network TV debut for Belly, who co-wrote Beyoncé‘s “6 Inch.”

A press release from his publicist states “Belly refuses to share stage with Donald Trump.” And in a statement to the AP, the Canadian rapper explained “I feel like the way I was raised was to be able to see through all the titles in this world — from religion to race. I just didn’t want to feel like I was a part of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that majority of us don’t agree with.”

He added: For me, being Muslim and being somebody that appreciates my access here in America, I love the fact that I’m able to be here. To play my part in this business is a privilege and a beautiful thing. The fact that I could lose that ability through the actions of someone such as Donald Trump isn’t right to me. At all.”

A Trump spokesmen didn’t respond to the AP’s request for comment and a representative for the Kimmel show had no comment. It just so happens that the news is accompanied by Belly’s announcement of a new mixtape dropping on Friday.

Below, revisit the pair’s performance of “Might Not” from this year’s JUNOs to get a taste of what would’ve been.
