Prince’s PETA Song Is So Committed It Has Dolphin Sounds

Years ago, Prince became a strict vegan and back in 1999, he penned a pro-vegan song for PETA’s 20th anniversary called “Animal Kingdom.” Over the weekend, ahead of the late icon‘s 58th birthday tomorrow (June 7), the animal rights organization re-released the track.

And it’s odd, in a good way. It’s framed around the line “No member of the animal kingdom ever did a thing to me,” and fitting with the theme there are some dolphin squeals and crashing waves — and lyrics about blue cheese.

Mayte Garcia, Prince’s ex-wife, is working with PETA to mark Prince’s birthday each year to encourage people to go vegan. “My mission every 7 June is not only to celebrate his birth, but also with PETA to remember this man by making 7 June a day where Prince fans go vegan to see how much better they feel and to honour his kind legacy,” she said, according to The Guardian.
