Kylie Minogue doing the Absolutely Fabulous theme song? Sounds about right.

Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley have once again slipped into Edina and Patsy mode, for the upcoming Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie (in theaters July 22), and Kylie has been enlisted to record a version of “This Wheel’s On Fire” for the soundtrack. The track was originally co-written by Bob Dylan and The Band‘s Rick Danko, but it was Julie Driscoll and Brian Auger‘s rendition, a psychedelic Top 5 hit in the UK in 1968, that subsequently came to be used (in re-recorded form) in the AbFab opening credits throughout the early-to-mid ’90s.

Minogue’s electro-pop version of “This Wheel’s On Fire” has echoes of her 2007 hit “2 Hearts,” so if you dig X era Kylie, then this will probably be right up your alley.

The Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie soundtrack will be released on July 1. “This Wheel’s On Fire” is available to grab now with iTunes pre-orders of the album.
