On Sunday (June 26), Lady Gaga joined the Dalai Lama, Amercian businessman Philip Anschutz and Ann Curry at the 84th Annual United States Conference of Mayors to discuss kindness and inner peace.

“The really fantastic thing about kindness is that it’s free,” said Gaga in her opening remarks. “It’s the best resource that we have because you can give and give and receive kindness. The well of it inside of you will never dry up.”

She continued, “I feel the most important reason to focus on kindness right now with what we’re experiencing in the world is to consider the Unites States as a human body, the brain as the government and all the organs south of the neck – this is the people …What we’re experiencing right now is that the mind of the United States and the body are not talking. There’s no connection.”

The Dalai Lama and Mother Monster then spoke about finding inner peace, the future and the obligations that younger generations will have in the years to come. “The future is on your shoulders, not my shoulders,” he told Gaga.

The two also joked about being old-souls. “I’m one 81-year-old person with quite a lot of experiences,” the Dalai Lama said, to which Gaga quickly retorted, “You didn’t know this, but I’m much older than you.”
