John Newman & Calvin Harris’ New Song “Olé”: Is It A Taylor Swift Diss Track?

Calvin Harris might have taken a page right out of the Taylor Swift Diss Your Ex In Song playbook, if a report by TMZ is to be believed. Friday (July 8) sees the release of John Newman‘s new single “Olé,” which the British crooner’s friend and “Blame” collaborator wrote and produced. And according to TMZ, the lyrics were written from the point of view of Swift’s current fling, actor Tom Hiddleston, with whom the 1989 singer has been seen gallivanting in public with since her split from Harris just weeks ago.

Says the site:

One lyric goes, “I see online that you begun to be a good girl and take trips with your boyfriend. Being attentive, continue to pretend …”

If that wasn’t clear enough, the song goes on … “You’ve hidden my name in your phone so you can call me to tell me you’ve been going through hell. Left him alone and you booked in a hotel.”

And, using Tom’s famous ‘Thor’ character, Loki, the song goes on, “Low key you won’t tell none of your friends about me.”

We’ll have to wait until midnight tonight, when the song is released, to see if the above holds any water. For now, John Newman has simply described the song as having a reggae tinge to it, while also noting that “it’s one of [Calvin Harris’] favorite songs he’s ever written.”
