Nelly Furtado Returns With Soulful Gem “Behind Your Back”: Listen
Fresh off her Missy Elliott tribute performance at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors, Nelly Furtado has released her new soulful gem “Behind Your Back.” And even though the song isn’t going to be on her upcoming album, Furtado does say it’s “an appetizer” for things to come.

Here, Furtado tries to find solace (or closure or both) by talking about an ex-lover behind his back. “It’s nothing bad/ It’s all I have/It’s just a chance to say your name/Baby, it’s nothing bad,” she coos over the sleek, funky melody. It’s a plush, deeply poignant number that perhaps marks a new era for the Canadian singer away from the pop mainstream.
