Beyonce's LP is redemptive to those who've suffered through infidelity of a long-term partner.

On July 16, Turkey’s military staged a coup. The military had done this three times before, between 1960 and 1980, to seize control of the country. But this attempt, in retaliation against Turkey’s divisive President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, largely failed. Thousands of military personnel and judges were either fired or arrested. Meanwhile, around 265 people died and over 1,400 were left wounded.

Meanwhile, Beyoncé was performing in Amsterdam. She was about to perform her 2008 song “Halo,” though she had already caught wind of what happened. “This song is about love,” she said. “I want to dedicate it to all the lives lost in Turkey. Y’all help me sing tonight.” This was one of many shows of solidarity that Beyoncé has done has of late, whether for victims in Nice, Dallas, Orlando or victims of police brutality nationwide.
