The latest to be dragged under the Idolator microsope is Rihanna's 'Star Trek: Beyond' theme.

Bates Motel, the A&E TV series inspired by Alfred Hitchcock‘s Psycho, is about to have a new guest. Rihanna announced during San Diego Comic-Con that she will play Marion Crane, the secretary who gets stabbed to death in that iconic shower scene, for Bates Motel‘s fifth and final season.

“Let me tell you what a bad bitch is about to do. I’m about to check into the Bates Motel, very soon,” she said in a video played during the convention.

Psycho, released in 1960, was a psychological thriller about the twisted relationship between Bates Hotel proprietor Norman Bates and his mother, Norma. Bates Motel is about the events leading up to what happened in that film. When Rihanna told Vanity Fair that she is a fan of the series, the showrunners immediately took notice.

“We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way, said executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin. “We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate.”
