From Drake, To Mom
Read Drake's hilarious 2006 letter, thanking his mom for funding his "music and wardrobe."

Drake isn’t taking a break any time soon. During his and Future‘s July 23 Summer Sixteen tour stop in Kansas City, Missouri, Drake revealed that he has new music in the works. Yes, this news came not even two months after the release of VIEWS, which has topped the charts essentially ever since.

“I want you to protect yourselves and each other,” Drake said, echoing his reaction to Alton Sterling‘s death. “When I go and work on this new mixtape and come back to Kansas City and I drop that shit, I want to see everybody in this motherfucker, boy!”

According to Street Execs marketing director Noah Williams, Drake’s new mixtape is the proper follow-up to last year’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. Meanwhile, Drake has also teamed up with Gucci Mane, who was released from federal prison in late May, for a joint project possibly called The 6’ers. (Gucci has long championed Atlanta police district Zone 6, while Drake, of course, coined “the 6” as a nickname for his own native Toronto.)
