This year’s Global Citizen Festival is stacked, with headliners Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Selena Gomez, Major Lazer and, in the obligatory legacy act slot, Metallica. The fifth annual humanitarian-minded fest takes place in New York’s Central Park on September 24, and this year’s focus is on global education.

“I couldn’t be more honored to participate in the Global Citizen Festival as it continues to help solve important issues around the world,” Gomez said in a statement. “I am particularly proud to be involved this year as the focus is on education. As an artist with many young fans, I believe everyone has the right to an education.” (Maybe this gig will help her rediscover her sense of purpose/authenticity?)

Usher, Chris Martin, Ellie Goulding, Eddie Vedder and more are also on the lineup, alongside celebrity hosts like Chelsea Handler, Hugh Jackman, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra and Seth Meyers.

The concert will be live streamed on YouTube and a live simulcast will air on MSNBC and MSNBC.com. Some 50,000 free tickets will be awarded to people who earn enough “points” in the fight for quality education for all — find more info right here.
