In the latest news confirming that content is synonymous with mutated nostalgia, TBS is developing a comedy based on the Notorious B.I.G.‘s lyrics. You know, those hilarious rhymes Biggie is known for like “When I die, fuck it, I wanna go to hell / Cause I’m a piece of shit, it ain’t hard to fucking tell” and “You’re talking to the robbery expert / Step into your wake with your blood on my shirt.” Ah, you’ll be drunk with chuckles after imbibing this sweet nectar of comedy!

For real though he had jokes, but that still doesn’t justify the existence of this project, which is called Think B.I.GThe Hollywood Reporter says the scripted series will “chronicle the misadventures of an inner-city teen desperately trying to create a better future for his daughter and infant son. The plot will be loosely based on [B.I.G.’s] lyrics.”

Maybe it’ll be good! It’s being produced by Mass Appeal, so they’ll surely handle the source material with care. Maybe it’ll spread B.I.G.’s lyrical genius to a new generation. But for now, it’s a reminder that not every goddamn thing needs to be spun into a franchise brand.
