Whatever your political affiliation, there’s no denying the fact that stars play a role on both sides. And there’s no denying the fact that the Democrats have a clear edge in that category. But apparently that almost wasn’t the case! Justin Bieber was reportedly offered millions to perform at an RNC-adjacent event in Cleveland last week, which certainly would’ve eclipsed the GOP’s parade of D-listers…but LeBron James had a hand in talking him out of accepting the gig, according to TMZ. Whew, that’s a lot to take in.

First, the gig. TMZ says sources tied to Bieber’s talent agency claim a promoter offered the star $5 million to play a 45-minute set near the RNC. Team Bieber was told it would be an apolitical affair and wouldn’t be endorsing any Republican politicians or policies — except, the hefty sum was provided by GOP donors, which negates any talk about neutrality.

As for LeBron’s involvement, well, apparently Bieber’s camp was promised the NBA champ would attend the event. But James reached out and said he wouldn’t even be in Cleveland during the RNC week, and reportedly urged Bieber to reject the offer.

Man, “Sorry” would’ve had a whole new meaning if this deal went through.
