Kesha Drops Lawsuit Against Dr. Luke In California

On Monday (August 1), Kesha dropped her California civil law suit against her former mentor Dr. Luke. The singer filed the suit in October 2014, alleging that the record producer (real name Lukasz Gottwald) drugged and raped her. A similar lawsuit still continues for Kesha in New York, as the singer fights to leave her six-album contract with Gottwald’s Kemosabe Records.

The dismissal comes as an attempt by the 29-year-old to get new music released. In fact, the singer’s attorney Daniel Petrocelli has revealed that Kesha just delivered 28 new songs to the Sony Music imprint.

“We have conveyed to Sony Music and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release her next album and single as soon as possible,” Petrocelli told Buzzfeed News in a statement.

Kesha also took to Instagram to say a few words and express her gratitude to her fans.

“My fight continues,” she said. “I need to get my music out. I have so much to say. This lawsuit is so heavy on my once free spirit, and I can only pray to one day feel that happiness again. I am continuing to fight for my rights in New York. Thank you for all your support. The support of my fans has been so beautiful and I’m so grateful for it. I’m Not sure where I would be without you all.”
