When the Bee Gees switched gears in the mid-1970s and tossed their hats into the ring of the then-booming disco scene, they were initially greeted with massive chart success and, for better or worse, became poster kids for the genre. Perhaps the biggest key to their fortunes was that, at the heart of the brothers’ Gibb’s output, there were always solid songs.

Swedish duo Say Lou Lou clearly recognize this. While their cover of “Stayin’ Alive” is a complete overhaul of what is arguably the best-known Bee Gees tune, it’s one that manages to keep the disco-pop classic’s core melody intact.

The pair have offered up “Stayin’ Alive” as a holdover ahead of their sophomore LP’s release — or, as they put it in a press release, it’s a “end of Summer offering and a tiny preview of what’s to come.”
