Last night (August 23), Blood Orange (real name Dev Hynes) stopped by Conan to perform Freetown Sound standouts “Augustine” and “Thank You.”

Sat behind a white piano, Hynes – backed by two dancers in the beginning– crooned the first poignant number as portraits of police brutality victims Terrance Mack and Philando Castile, as well as a picture of murdered Turkish transgender activist Hande Kader, were displayed on the stage. The singer then proceeded to execute powerful choreography himself for “Thank You.”

Hynes is also set to perform the entirety of his stellar new album at the Ace Hotel Theater in Los Angeles tonight (August 24), which will be streamed via Tidal at 9:30 p.m. PT.
