Rihanna To Open The 2016 MTV VMAs
Rihanna is taking over the MTV Video Music Awards. Not only will she be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, but, as announced via a new promo by Sweden’s Panda Gunda, she will also be opening the awards show.
Rihanna won’t just be performing her new single “Love on the Brain,” but a medley of “the biggest tracks of her career,” says VMAs executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic. “I can tell you it’s going to be one of those holy crap VMA moments,” he tells Entertainment Weekly. “She’s not playing. She’s bringing it.”
Other confirmed performers include Britney Spears, Green Day, Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Future, the Chainsmokers and Halsey. Watch the promo for Rihanna’s performance below.
