On the late King Of Pop’s birthday yesterday (August 29), he was the subject of a heartfelt Instagram update by the Queen Of Pop, Madonna. Madge and Michael Jackson were born just 13 days apart from each other in August 1958, and Madonna commemorated what would have been Jackson’s 58th b’day by posting several photos of the pair together throughout the years.

“Happy Birthday to this wonderful and glorious creature!! 👑 The King! Gone too soon! ❤️,” Madonna wrote.

Unlike Prince, another music legend who rose to prominence in the same era, Michael Jackson and Madonna never recorded a song together — although they did do a bit of early collaboration on Jackson’s Dangerous single “In The Closet.”

“I started writing words and getting ideas and stuff,” Madonna explained in a 1992 interview with British TV personality Jonathan Ross. “And I presented them to him and he didn’t like them. I think all he wanted was a provocative title, and ultimately he didn’t want the content of the song to…sort of live up to the title.”
