Chris Brown was arrested Tuesday (August 30) after a lengthy stalemate with police who were posted outside his home following allegations that he threatened a woman with a gun. The singer was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and was released on $250,000 bail later that night.

The arrest came after the LAPD responded to a 911 call from a woman who claimed Brown pointed a gun at her over a diamond necklace at around 3 a.m. local time inside his Tarzana, California, home. When police arrived at the house, the star either refused to come out or was asleep, depending on which account is true. What is known is that when he did wake up, he hunkered down and posted a string of videos on Instagram calling out the cops (specifically saying “fuck the police” and describing them as “the worst gang in the world”).

After the nearly 12-hour staring contest, Brown cooperated with detectives who entered with a search warrant alongside his attorney, Mark Geragos. Geragos calls the allegations “demonstrably false.”

People reports that Brown has a court appearance scheduled for September 20.
