Nelly Furtado Tweets About "Islands Of Me"
Nelly Furtado confirmed that she has recorded a song called "Islands Of Me."

After you listen to Lady Gaga’s “Perfect Illusion” and get acquainted with Kings Of Leon’s “Waste A Moment,” make sure you put aside four minutes for Nelly Furtado’s excellent “Islands Of Me.” The Canadian pop star debuted the track at New York Fashion Week on Wednesday night (September 7) and shared the live performance on Facebook shortly after, but it didn’t quite do justice to the offbeat synth-pop anthem. Produced by John Congleton, the squiggly banger sounds like a cross between Carly Rae Jepsen and her own Whoa, Nelly! era. Which turns out to be a very, very good thing.

“Islands Of Me” is the first taste of Nelly’s sixth LP, The Ride. She opened up about the opus in a new interview with i-D, describing it as “modern pop-alternative.” What does that mean, exactly? “I write pop melodies, I’ve always written pop melodies,” the “Say It” diva explains. “But John forces me to dig a little deeper and make sure that I’m coming correct with the lyrics. I was also in a really cool phase in my life where I was going through a difficult time of transition and that helped lyrically. I just had so much to write about.” Nelly also revealed that the album will drop in March, 2017. Fall in love with her latest below.
