Dev Drops New Banger "#1"
Dev teams up with Nef The Pharaoh for catchy banger "#1." Listen to the pop star's latest hit.

Dev returned to the music scene in August with a slinky banger called “#1.” A collaboration with Bay Area rapper Nef The Pharaoh, the catchy track picks up where “Kiss It” and “Honey Dip” left off — by commanding you to move. To celebrate its release, the 27-year-old has curated a playlist of her #1s (or favorite songs). A handful of the singer’s own bops make the list (2 Chainz-assisted banger “In My Trunk” and enduring party anthem “Bass Down Low”), but the rest of her selections are endearingly eclectic.

For starters, who knew Dev was into grunge? She lists Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box” as one of her favorites along side less surprising fare like Kanye West’s “Good Life” and current collaborator Nef’s “Big Tymin’.” The “Like A G6” hitmaker also reveals a soft spot for BANKS and a deep appreciation for Katy Perry’s “Thinking Of You.” (Never forget her killer mash-up of “Part Of Me” and “The One That Got Away”). Dev exclusively explains each choice in her own words below. We’re excited to premiere her #1s playlist at the bottom of the post.

BANKS — “Brain”

My favorite song/album to listen to when I travel. She’s the perfect mix of great lyrical content and SLAP.

Nef The Pharaoh — “Big Tymin'”

I love that Nef embodies everything special about the Bay Area. I’m a huge fan. He’s so cute!

Dev feat. Nef The Pharaoh — “#1”

My new song. Nef The Pharaoh absolutely killed his verse. I hope you all love it!

Nirvana — “Heart-Shaped Box”

I grew up listening to a lot of grunge with my parents. This is a family favorite.

Dev feat. 2 Chainz — “In My Trunk”

Working with 2 Chainz was always on my bucket list. His writing style is so unique, he made that song VERY special.

Jagged Edge — “Where The Party At”

One of my family’s favorite songs to listen to while we bbq and celebrate!

Phoenix — Lisztomania”

Before I started working on music full time, I worked at Old Navy. Phoenix was always on our playlist at work and their songs inspired me to write.

Kanye West — “Good Life”

Kanye is one of my favorite writers/producers. Every time I listen to this record it takes me back to such a fun and carefree time in my life. It’s so good!

Dev — “Bass Down Low”

Creating and releasing this song helped shape what my career has been so far. It was a special moment between “Like A G6” and “In The Dark.” One of my favorite songs to perform.

Katy Perry — “Thinking Of You”

I saw Katy Perry at Warped Tour in ’08 and have been a huge fan ever since. I look up to everything she has done for pop music.
