Shakira Hits The Studio With Maluma
Talk about a dream duo! Shakira is working on new music with (fellow) Colombian pop sensation Maluma. “Prepare yourself for what we’re cooking up in the studio,” is a rough translation of the caption she used for a cute selfie with the frequently-shirtless crooner on Instagram. He then posted a couple of studio pics to get fans really excited. While it’s unclear if the collaboration is for Shakira’s 11th LP or his third offering, there’s no doubt that the song would wreak havoc with the charts in Spanish-speaking markets and possibly be Maluma’s crossover pop hit in the US.
At this rate, it wouldn’t be surprising if Shakira released a new single before the end of the year. She surprised fans by teasing new music in August and has been chipping away at the project since March when she posted a pic with long-time collaborator Luis Fernando Ochoa. (They first worked together on the superstar’s breakthrough LP Pies Descalzos way back in 1995 and have collaborated on every album since, with the exception of 2009’s She Wolf). Given the global success of “La Bicicleta,” she might as well strike while the iron is hot.
