The Weeknd achieved pop superstardom with 2015’s Beauty Behind The Madness. But if his recent activity is any indication, he won’t be taking a break anytime soon. On September 19, he deleted all his Instagram posts — a cryptic, though often surefire sign from artists that new music is on the way.

He also changed his bio to “⚡️✝⚡️ STARBOY ⚡️✝⚡️” — what could be a new alias, if not album title.

The Weeknd revealed last month that his follow-up to Beauty Behind The Madness is coming along quickly. But while “Can’t Feel My Face” recalled Michael Jackson, his new music bears a wider range of influences.

“The production feels aggressive but still sexy,” he said to VMAN. “The Smiths, Bad Brains, Talking Heads, Prince, and DeBarge play roles. … I think it’ll be the best-sounding album I’ve ever done. It’s hard to label the sound because, when I first came out, nobody would label it R&B. I just want to keep pushing the envelope without it feeling forced.”
