Shawn Mendes' 'Illuminate': Album Review
Is his new album a departure, or just a 'Handwritten' 2.0? Read our take to find out.

Skylar Grey reunites with Eminem in “Kill for You,” released September 22.

Previous collaborations include the latter’s “Love the Way You Lie,” which Skylar wrote before it ultimately featured Rihanna. Like that song, “Kill for You” also flirts with danger, in that it brings a Bonnie and Clyde-inspired relationship to life. (“Since the first day I started writing ‘Kill for You,’ I thought the Bonnie and Clyde message would be more powerful as a duet,” Skylar tells Rolling Stone. “I was stoked when Marshall put a verse on it.”) Both Skylar and Eminem’s notions are romantic at surface level. But at closer listen, they also also hint at violence, with lyrics like “You always ride, whatever the plan is / ’til the end, even if I led us into an ambush.”

“Kill for You” appears in Skylar’s sophomore album Natural Causes, out today (September 23). Listen below.
