Watch The Weeknd’s “Starboy” Video

The Weeknd linked up with Daft Punk, chopped off his dreads, deleted his old Instagram posts and reintroduced himself as “Starboy.” And now the new single has a video directed by frequent collaborator Grant Singer, who also helmed the visuals for “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills.”

Despite all the vibrant colors he’s been working with so far in this new era, The Weeknd shows he’s still a bringer of gloom: The video starts with him being suffocated by a masked henchman, and when you notice the “deceased” Weeknd still has dreadlocks, you can probably guess who’s under that balaclava.

After that, the close-cropped singer busts out some lowkey dance moves as he leaves the murder scene and proceeds to demolish his awards and platinum plaques with a neon cross, without any help from the French dance duo.

“Starboy” is the title track off The Weeknd’s next album, out November 25. Watch the video below.
