Laurel Announces ‘Park’ EP, Drops New Single “Hurricane”

London-based singer/songwriter Laurel first landed on my radar in March with the raw and angsty “Life Worth Living.” She cemented her status as one of 2016’s most exciting new talents with brooding gem “San Francisco,” which sounds like a cross between early Chris Isaak and Ultraviolence-era Lana Del Rey. (In other words, amazing). Both songs went top three on Hype Machine and racked up more than half a million streams. Which means that expectations are high for the 22-year-old’s new EP, Park (due November 18).

While I’m a little confused by the absence of “Life Worth Living” and “San Fransisco” from the tracklist, the new material is shaping up to be excellent. Laurel dropped a new single called “Hurricane” today (September 29) and it has a fuzzier, earthier sound than her previous blog hits. The moody track shows off the Brit’s velvet vocals and knack for writing a melancholy melody, while slightly veering away from cinematic sound of other dark-pop divas. Listen to Laurel’s latest below.

1. Maybe Baby 2. Hurricane 3. Too Far 4. Goodbye (Demo)
