Maybe it was Adam Lambert‘s recent vacation in Greece that prompted him to get a tattoo of ancient Roman emperor Hadrian’s young lover Antinous on his side? Regardless of the inspiration, the pop singer and Rocky Horror Picture Show star posted a photo of his new ink on Instagram last night, which he received courtesy of Sang Bleu London tattoo artist Maxime Buchi.

Thanks @mxmttt @sbldnttt !!! #Antinous (look him up)

And if you’re curious as to what the pain level is for getting a tattoo along your rib cage, Adam followed the above photo up with this one while noting, “Face while GETTING said tattoo.”

Fun fact: If you’re interested in learning more about Antinous, you can pick up a book about the Greek youth and his relationship with Hadrian, titled Beloved And God: The Story Of Hadrian And Antinous, that was written by a man named Royston Lambert. Coincidence?
