Pop Perspective: Lady Gaga's "Million Reasons"
We rate and review Lady Gaga's "Million Reasons" in the latest Pop Perspective.

Lady Gaga is having a terrible week. Reviews for her new album have been scathing and she’s embroiled in three different Twitter beefs at present. Mother Monster will attract more negative attention, no doubt, after defending herself against Madonna comparisons in a less than graceful manner. The “Perfect Illusion” diva was clearly irritated when Zane Lowe brought up the Queen of Pop in their Beats 1 interview today (October 20) and, after throwing out a couple of compliments, basically said that she’s more talented.

“Madonna and I are very different, I wouldn’t make that comparison at all,” Gaga began. “I don’t mean to disrespect Madonna. She’s a nice lady and she’s had a fantastic huge career. She’s the biggest pop star of all time, but I play a lot of instruments.”

This is where it all gets a little shady: “I write all my own music. I spend hours and hours a day in the studio. I’m a producer, I’m a writer. What I do is different. I’m not just rehearsing over and over again to put on a show.”

But wait there’s more! “There’s a spontaneity in my work,” the 30-year-old continued. “I allow myself to fail. I allow myself to break. I’m not afraid of my flaws. There are major differences between me and her. I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way. I just will not be compared to anyone anymore. I am who the fuck I am and this is me. My life story is my life story.”

Meanwhile, Madonna has just been nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Watch the full interview below. Things get messy at the 31 minute mark.
