Watch King Deco’s Enchanting Video For “Read My Lips”

King Deco released her flirty “Read My Lips” back in September, and today, the singer returns with an incredibly lavish video for the track.

Co-directed by the singer and Aaron Dean, this visual acts as an entry point into the “Decosphere.” We see our heroine as the subject of lavish paintings, lounging in gold-laden ballrooms and, at points, stomping with her posse in the woods. It’s a decadent affair, and quite an enchanting one, too.

“I grew up in Jordan, a small monarchy in the middle of a desert, with remnants of the Roman Empire sprinkled throughout the country,” the singer says of the video to NYLON, who premiered the clip. “It’s left me fascinated with the aesthetics of ancient empires, so I tried to express that in the ‘RML’ video through textures and architecture that convey regality.”

She continued, “While spiraling through different age-old empires and water worlds, I also filled the video with hidden quotes and subtle references to famous art pieces that speak to some of the larger themes running through my music: themes of empowerment, strong women and the idea of breaking free.”
