Justin Timberlake‘s enthusiasm about getting out the vote may cost him some jail time. Timberlake submitted an early ballot and posted a selfie from the voting booth in his home state, writing “I just flew from LA to Memphis to #rockthevote !!! No excuses, my good people! There could be early voting in your town too.”

But, as TMZ reports, Tennessee’s new law prohibits voters from taking photos or recording conversations in voting booths. The county D.A. has apparently declared the case “under review,” and if he’s prosecuted it could mean 30 days in jail and a $50 fine.

Beyoncé was in a similar predicament during the 2012 election when she shared a photo of her completed ballot. Let these celebrity incidents just be a reminder that you should keep your phone tucked away when you’re exercising your democratic right. Because c’mon, man.

But, if you’re just ~dying~ to give your ~followers~ all that election #content they so crave in order to keep up with your personal #brand, here’s a helpful map of states where voting selfies are legal.
