Jane Zhang’s “Dust My Shoulders Off” Video Is A Work Of Art
If you’ve scanned iTunes in the last fews days, you’ve probably seen the name Jane Zhang in the top 10 and scratched your head. Who is this mysterious diva and how did she get so popular? Well, she is actually one of the biggest pop stars in the world. The 32-year-old, who got her big break on delightfully-titled talent show, Super Girl, is China’s answer to Mariah Carey with a famed whistle register and a penchant for ballads. Which makes her debut US single something of a surprise.
Jane teams up with Timbaland for a perky, alt-leaning ditty called “Dust My Shoulders Off,” which wouldn’t sound out of place on pop or rhythmic radio. If this is a taste of what’s to come, The Dolphin Princess (her nickname according to the ever unreliable Wikipedia), stands a better chance of conquering the US than K-Pop acts like CL and Wonder Girls. The song’s remarkable video, which finds the pop star recreating famous works of art, will only help her cause. Watch the eye-popping clip up top.
