Swedish Pop Alert: ALVA's "Daylight"
"Daylight" is ALVA's third great single in a row. Get to know the rising Swedish diva.

With break-out stars like Tove Lo, and Zara Larsson duking it out on the Billboard Hot 100, it’s easy to forget that they are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to worthy Scandinavian pop stars. If you want to dig a little deeper, may I suggest Frida Sundemo. The Swedish diva has been making waves stateside since the release of 2014 EP, Lit Up By Neon, and raised her profile last year with a cameo in Nicholas Hoult and James Corden’s Britpop-themed comedy/thriller Kill Your Friends. She also contributed “Heroes” to the soundtrack.

The Göteborg songbird went a little quiet on us after that but she returns today (October 28) with her first new single of 2016 and it was definitely worth the wait. A euphoric synth-ballad with a typically gargantuan chorus, “We Are Dreamers” is the antidote the darkness that has been creeping into Scandipop. Not that it’s high-camp Eurovision fodder either, this just has the balls to exude optimism at a time when it’s out of fashion. Get acquainted with Frida below while she’s still somewhat under the radar.
