Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Drake and Shawn Mendes were all winners at Sunday (November 6) night’s MTV Europe Music Awards, ensuring that Canada was well represented at the Rotterdam, Netherlands event. That said, neither Bieber and Drake attended the EMAs, nor did Joanne chart-topper Lady Gaga, another of the night’s big winners (in the Best Female and Best Look categories). Also absent: Beyonce, who was nominated in (and lost in) five categories, and Adele (who was up for four EMAs).

Those who did show included The Weeknd, who won Best Video for Daft Punk collaboration “Starboy” and performed the song on stage at the Ahoy Rotterdamn, plus Global Icon winners Green Day, Best Male winner Shawn Mendes, Best Electronic winner Martin Garrix and Best Push Act recipients DNCE.

Bruno Mars opened the evening with “24K Magic,” and he was followed by fellow performers Zara Larsson, Kings Of Leon, OneRepublic and Bebe Rexha, who hosted the whole shindig.
