The xx Share Another Mysterious New Snippet

Last week, a minute-long song showed up on The xx‘s new playlist on Spotify with no artist and no title listed. But factoring in its inclusion on the mix, the Young Turks copyright (the band’s label) and the brief appearance of female vox that could be Romy Madley Croft‘s, the internet pretty quickly concluded it was a piece of new music from the UK trio. And now another new 55-second piece of unmarked material has emerged that has the band’s fingerprints all over it.

This time it appears to include Oliver Sim‘s voice, and there’s a Twin Peaks vibe to the short piece. With the group heading on tour later this month, and these two mystery tracks, there’s the feeling that a new album rollout is materializing and a song release is imminent. Their last album, Coexist, was released in 2012, and the group’s production wiz, Jamie xx, released his solo debut In Colour last year.
