Charli XCX Is On A New Song With Rostam: Listen

Charli XCX has been riding a wave of bombastic party music influenced and assisted by PC Music, but for her latest collab she takes on this type of digital future pop from a different angle. She has teamed up for a duet with Rostam Batmanglij on a reworked version of electronic producer Jim-E Stack‘s “Deadstream.”

It’s a swirling ghost of an ’80s synth-pop song, with slap bass and drum machines buttressing processed pleas from the British singer and the former Vampire Weekend multi-hyphenate. And it’s the most subdued thing Charli’s been a part of in a while.
